Post Date : November 6, 2022

Osun State Police Command on Sunday was silent on the outcome of its probe of the alleged assault of a female cop, Inspector Bamidele Olorunsogo, by her superior, Matthew Ajayi.

The two police personnel are attached to the Ode Omu Police Division under Osun Command and Olorunsogo had accused Ajayi, the Divisional Crime Officer, of assault, after refusing advances from him.

Olorunsogo, in a video that went viral on social media recently, had displayed open wounds allegedly inflicted on her by Ajayi, after she refused to have an affair with him.

The incident, which attracted the attention of Police Force Headquarters, also elicited wide condemnations, with people demanding a probe with a view to preventing reoccurrence.

The Osun police command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, had told PUNCH Metro that the state Police Commissioner, Sunday Faleye, had quizzed the two cops involved and later directed the Area Commander, Ikire Area Command, to take over and report back to him.

However, five days after the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered an investigation into the incident, the Osun Command has yet to disclose the outcome of the probe.

Asked on Sunday the outcome of the probe, Opalola in a terse text message to our correspondent, simply wrote “no update yet.”
