Ihedioha, Ikenga fail to honour Imo police invitation, seek postponement

The immediate past governor of Imo State and the spokesperson of Coalition of United Political Parties, and reps member elect, Ugochinyere Imo, have asked the state police command to differ its invitation till Tuesday next week.

The police in the state had on Monday invited Ihedioha, Imo and immediate past deputy governor of the state, Gerald Irona, to the state Intelligence Bureau of the command over kidnap, murder and arson case.

The invitation letter which was addressed to chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Charles Ugwu, was written by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Ukachi Opara read ” the office of State Intelligence Bureau, Imo state police command, state headquarters Owerri, is investigating the above underlined case involving some prominent members of Peoples Democratic Party, Imo state chapter.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo state command requests you come along with the following persons, Emeka Ihedioha, Ugochinyere Ikenga Imo, Gerald Irona, to interview the commissioner of police, through the officer in charge of State Intelligence Bureau, Owerri date

Thursday, 16th March , 2023, time 10:00 prompt.”

It was learnt that the duo asked that the invitation be differed til Wednesday.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, said that the suspects wrote to the police demanding that the police invite be shifted till Tuesday next week.

He said ” they wrote to us requesting that the invitation be differed till Tuesday after the elections. The new date is now Tuesday.”
