No fewer than 16 rooms at the students ’ hostel of the Kano State College of Nursing and Midwifery have been gutted by fire .
The fire was said to have started during the Muslim evening prayer at about 6. 20 pm on Wednesday on the third floor of Sa ’ idu Fagge hostel .
It was gathered that the fire started from a toilet .
A source at the college told The PUNCH that the fire raged for over one hour before the arrival of the Kano Fire servicemen .
When contacted , the spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service , Sai’ du Muhammad, confirmed the incident.
He said investigation had commenced with a view to finding out the cause of the fire and extent of the damage .
