Insecurity: Flights Resume At Kaduna Airport Months After Suspension

Domestic flight operations resumed at the Kaduna International Airport after over five months when commercial airlines suspended their flights into the airport due to security concerns and other logistics issues.

At exactly 5:10 pm on Monday, a commercial passenger plane from Lagos landed at the airport amidst tight security, thereby marking the resumption of flight operations along the route.

The Manager of Kaduna International Airport Manager, Adamu Sheikh, declared the airport safe and secure for both passengers and airline operations, insisting that the airport was never shut down due to bandit attacks.

Bandits had attacked the precinct of the airport in March 2022, thereby forcing the suspension of flight operations.

Although Azman Air continued operating along the Kaduna Airport route after the attack, it later suspended flights into the airport about five months ago, a situation that forced passengers on the Lagos-Kaduna route to either land in Kano or Abuja and travel to Kaduna by road.

However, on Monday, a commercial passenger plane from Lagos landed at the airport to the elation of airport officials and passengers who called on the government to ensure the airport remains safe and functional.

According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), more airlines are expected to resume operations at the Kaduna Airport.

The airport managers also assured passengers and airline operators that adequate security measures have been put in to ensure the safety of passengers and airline operators.
