The Kano State Hisbah has arrested eight cross dressers dancing at a wedding in Kofar Waika, Gwale Local Government Area of the state.
Deputy Commander General of Hisbah, Dr Mujaheed Abubakar, disclosed this on Tuesday, stating that the suspects were apprehended based on a tip from concerned citizens who reported that young men were dressed in female Fulani attire and dancing at a wedding.
Hisbah operatives subsequently raided the wedding venue, leading to the arrest of eight young men, including the groom.
Dr Mujaheed explained that the suspects were brought before the Hisbah Shari’a court, where they confessed to their actions and were subsequently tried for their offence.
In response, the suspects appealed for leniency and pledged not to engage in such activities again.
