A headmaster in Burra primary school in Ningi local government area of Bauchi state, Jalaludeen Zakari, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for defiling a 6-year-old girl in his school.

Justice Nana Fatimah Jibrin of the Bauchi State High Court No. 11 sentenced the head teacher in Bauchi.

Vanguard gathered that Zakari’s victim was in the school to undergo screening for admission before being defiled by Zakari, who held her for hours after official school closing hours.

The prosecuting counsel, Barrister Dayabu Ayuba, disclosed during an interview that Zakari penetrated his victim’s private part with his fingers.

Ayuba said that during the trial, three witnesses, including the victim, testified, leading to the sentencing.

“The sentencing occurred in July of this year after Jalaludeen pleaded with the court for leniency.

“The perpetrator asked his victim to stay back, dismissing all other pupils without providing a reason for her extended stay. While she was left behind, the assailant subjected her to sexual assault, an act equivalent to rape in legal terms.”
