AnambraDecides2025: INEC uploads 97.50% of results on IReV

The Independent National Electoral Commission has so far uploaded 97.50 per cent of results from the Anambra State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal.

Checks by our correspondent on the INEC website at 7:39 p.m. showed the update on Saturday.

Out of the 5,718 polling units where the election was conducted, results from 5,577 polling units have been uploaded to the portal.

The election featured 18 candidates — 16 men and two women — drawn from various political parties.

Among the prominent contenders are the incumbent governor, Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance; Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress; and George Nnadubem Moghalu of the Labour Party.

Others include Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party, Paul Chukwuka Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party, and several other candidates representing other political platforms.

INEC’s Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Dayo Oketola, said on Saturday that the election had been widely commended for its organisation and transparency.

“With reports of seamless operations, strong security coordination, and near-total PVC collection, both domestic and international observers have described the Anambra governorship election as a milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey and a clear testament to the renewed confidence in INEC’s leadership and electoral integrity.”

However, some politicians and candidates alleged that incidents of vote-buying occurred in parts of the state as voters trooped out to elect a new governor.
