According to eyewitnesses, the hoodlums opened fire at the burial; shooting sporadically and killing three persons, including two of the deceased’s grandchildren, while injuring many others.

No fewer than 20 persons reportedly sustained bullet wounds.

It was pandemonium and confusion as mourners and guests alike ran helter skelter for safety.

The funeral ceremony came to an abrupt halt, with the corpse abandoned in the open as mourners, guests including clergymen, fled for dear lives.

Food and drinks prepared for the burial were abandoned and left untouched as guests fled in different direction following sporadic shooting at the burial.

When the dust of the attack settled, and the dead and injured were counted, it was realised that two of the deceased grandchildren were shot dead by the rampaging gunmen.

With a heavy heart, the family went into an emergency search for a pastor to complete the funeral rites for the deceased to put an end to the tragic burial ceremony.

While CrimeFacts is still probing for further details of the attack, the police authorities in the state, as at the time of this report, are yet to make any public statement on the incident.
