At least fifteen persons have been kidnapped by gunmen in the Pegi neighborhood of the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The gunmen were alleged to have assaulted the 1,000 Housing Estate at 11.30 pm on Sunday, May 14th, 2023 and fired intermittently into the air, taking some people returning from the city at the time with them.
According to Taiwo Aderibigbe, the Chairman of the Pegi Residents Association, one of those abducted was a member of the FCT Department of Development Control under the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC).
According to him: “Gunmen abducted 15 persons along the abandoned 14 kilometers Pegi road, out of those kidnapped is one Shuaibu Misa, a staff with the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
“We also observed that the husband of the woman who sells second-hand clothes at the main entrance to the estate was among the people kidnapped while they were returning from work.
“The kidnappers have not contacted the families of those abducted at the moment, but we are still trying to identify other residents abducted”.
While reacting to the abduction, Tlp Mukhtar Galadima, the Director FCT Department of Development Control, said, “Yes is true, one of our drivers by the name Shuaibu Misa was kidnapped and he has not been released”
However, at the time of filling this report, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory command, Josephine Adeh didn’t respond to several calls to her.
