Man Attempting To End His Life Over Debt Rescued In Anambra

Anambra State Police Command has announced the rescue of one Alozie John who attempted to end his life on August 23rd, 2024 over a debt of One million, two hundred thousand Naira hanging on his neck.

A statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu said Alozie, a 27-year-old native of Isielu local government area of Ebonyi State resides in Umunnachi, Dunukofia council area of the Anambra State.

Ikenga also noted that he has been debriefed and is currently receiving medical attention under strict monitoring.

Giving further details on the rescue, the spokesman the young man reached out to the command via a WhatsApp chat that he had taken a dangerous substance hoping for his death “because of indebtedness of One million, two hundred thousand Naira to his supplier of livestock products. He further confessed that he deals with selling live Chicken and after he took the harmful chemical did not feel okay.

“Meanwhile, his mother was contacted, and she is currently assisting the Police with evaluation, references and transfer to a better facility for proper and other necessary care of the boy.”
