Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) have this morning gathered at the national secretariat to the party in Abuja to attempt to resolve the latest crisis bedevilling the leadership of the party.
The chairman of the board, Senator Walid Jibrin, summoned the meeting following the resignation of seven elected members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) citing lack of inclusion by the Prince Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC).
Members who have already arrived for the meeting are PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, National Secretary; Senator Umar Ibrahim Tsauri and Deputy National Chairman North, Senator Suleiman Nazi; immediate past president of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki; former president of the Senate, David Mark, and former president of the Senate, Adolphus Ndaneweh Wabara.
Former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi; former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu; former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki,, Chief Tom Ikimi, former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema; former Cross Rivers State Governor, Liyel Imoke; Chief Olisa Metuh, former Osun State Governor, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Foreign Affairs minister, Aminu Wali, Senator Ben Obi, Shuaib Oyedokun, among others.
The “conscience of the party” is seeking to douse the tension in the main opposition party now being blamed on a particular governor by the party boss, Secondus.
