Rivers Assembly Counters SSG, Says Letter Was Rejected By State Government

The Rivers State House of Assembly has disputed the state government’s claim that they’re yet to receive the letter on the House’s resolution.

The Speaker’s principal secretary told Channels Television that the letter was dispatched to the Government House on the 3rd of March by FedEx courier delivery service, but when the courier arrived at the gate of the government house, the personnel received a call from inside with instructions not to accept or receive but to return to the sender.

This followed Monday’s resolution of the Rivers State House of Assembly to give Governor Fubara 48 hours to present the 2025 appropriations bill to them.

But the state government said they are yet to officially receive the letter containing their resolution.

A letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Tammy Danagogo read in part: “As at the close of work on Tuesday 4th March, 2025, we are yet to receive the said letter. Neither the office of the Governor, nor the Deputy Governor’s office, nor the office of the Accountant-General of the State has received the said letter.”
