Yahoo boys shoot EFCC operatives, kill one, injure another in Anambra

Suspected Internet fraudsters, known as Yahoo boys, have shot dead an unidentified officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and critically injured another in the Onitsha area of Anambra State.

According to PUNCH Online, the officers were on a mission to apprehend a group of suspected cybercriminals when they encountered deadly violence on Friday morning.

The operatives had travelled to Anambra from their zonal headquarters in Enugu for the operation.

The deceased officer, identified as an assistant superintendent, had recently completed a promotional examination.

Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that investigations were underway.

“Investigation into the sad incident is ongoing. The suspect is in custody, and the firearm has been recovered. Further details shall be communicated, please,” Ikenga said.
