The member representing Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha Federal Constituency, Hon Dozie Nwankwo, on Saturday, defeated the former National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sen Victor Umeh, to pick the party’s ticket for Anambra South Senatorial District.
Nwankwo 46, is a two term member of the Federal House of Representatives.
Announcing the results released on Saturday, the Returning Officer Mrs Elizabeth Nwokocha, said Umeh scored 151 votes while Nwankwo scored 162 to emerge the winner.
While Uzuegbuna Okagbue scored 10 votes.
Speaking shortly after he was declared winner, Nwankwo said, “I dedicate this victory to God Almighty and to my party APGA and I thank his Excellency Gov Charles Soludo for creating the environment for a peaceful primary election.
“I have been in the National Assembly the lower chamber and my achievements speak for me and already my brother Sen Victor Umeh has already congratulated me and I urge him to join me to better Anambra Central Senatorial District.”
Nwankwo is now up against incumbent Senator Uche Ekwunife whom he had battled with him when he contested the Hours of Representatives for the first time under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
