On Feb.24, 2024 (last Saturday evening), Pastor Okezie J Atani.., a self acclaimed influencer and president Bola Tinubu supporter posted on his X, a photo of price and claimed that A.A Rano Nigeria has reduced the price of cooking gas by 50% due to the “approaching month of Ramadan.”
A.A Rano Nigeria is a full-stream oil and gas company. The company deals in wholesale and retail distribution of PMS, DPK, AGO, LPG and lubricants, storage and haulage of petroleum products, oil exploration and lifting, and trading and importation of petroleum products.
According to Pastor Okezie, he claimed that currently 1kg of cooking gas is being sold for 560 at AA Rano.
Since Saturday, this post has gained over 368k views and 1k reposts on X.
ALSO, another X user, @whatsappblogba wrote, “A.A Rano company has chosen to reduce the price of cooking gas by 50% due to the approaching month of Ramadan, currently 1kg-560 🇳🇬”
The claim which was made on February 27 has attracted over 6k views.
VERIFICATION
When checked, it was discovered that the photo posted by Pastor Okezie on last Saturday, was an old gas price shared on Nairaland Forum in June 2023.
JUDGMENT
The claim that AA Rano has currently reduced cooking gas price by 50%, is false and misleading.
