A man identified as Obikoya Adewale has allegedly taken his own life by hanging himself in the Molode, Sabo area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
A video that went viral on social media on Saturday showed the deceased hanging from the roof in front of a house in circumstances suspected to be suicide.
Residents at the scene were heard appealing to the relevant authorities to promptly evacuate the body.
Details surrounding the incident were still unclear as of the time of filing this report.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident to Sunday PUNCH on Saturday.
Babaseyi disclosed that the police had commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“On June 13, 2026, at about 0840hrs, information was received that one Obikoya Gbenga Adewale (m), an adult male of Sabo area, Ijebu Ode, was found dead in circumstances suspected to be suicide.
“On receipt of the report, the DPO and his team visited the scene and all necessary procedures have been duly observed to preserve the body, while investigations have commenced to determine the cause of death,” the PPRO said.
