The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, for allegedly killing his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Mundadu Village, Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on September 21, 2026, when the Bindawa Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, reporting that the elderly man, who was a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village, had been found lying motionless in front of his residence.
The police said detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was evacuated and rushed to the nearest hospital for medical attention, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor upon arrival.
According to the command, preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the deceased’s son, Sada, who allegedly confessed during interrogation to hitting his father on the head with a stick.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation.
The command, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the suspect would be arraigned before a court after the completion of the investigation, assuring the public that justice would be served.
