Boko Haram Kills 3 Villagers, Loots Livestock Near Maiduguri

Three persons have been reportedly killed and one other wounded when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a community on the outskirt of Maiduguri, Borno State capital on Wednesday night, sources said.

It was learnt that the insurgents stormed Ngumari village near Moromti general area at about 10:30 pm in Konduga Local Government Area and killed three men.

A member of the civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), Abubakar Kulima said the attackers shot sporadically and carted away livestock in the village.

“The situation is becoming worrisome and if they could come as close as Moromti village, then we are not safe in Bulumkutu. We have since reported the matter to the authority,” Kulima said.

A resident of Moromti village, Mustapha Umaru, also confirmed that the villagers fled their homes in Moromti to a safe place.

“We heard gunshots and even the villagers came to Moromti to pass the night yesterday and in the morning when they went back, all their goats, chicken and rams have been carted away by the insurgents

“They also took some new clothes from the village. They equally went away with seven bicycles and looted food items,” Mustapha said.

A police source, who is not authorised to speak on the incident, confirmed the attack.
