One of the sons of Nigeria former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has tested positive to COVID-19.

This was disclosed by Atku Abubakar himself through his Twitter handle, @Atiku.

He also informed that the son, (name withheld) has been moved to the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital having earlier notified the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He advised Nigerians to adopt safety measures as the COVID-19 pandemic is real.

Reacting to the development, the opposition spokesman, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere lamented the situation saying: ”
You see why we are asking for government to provide enough testing kit because a lot of people who don’t have the resources, do not know their status especially in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun .

“The NCDC and government do not have enough equipment and manpower, something can still be done before the spread goes nationwide and overwhelm our health infrastructure like Italy. Free and mandatory testing  plus temporary close down of major public/private outfits must be done to help identify infected people and stop the continuous and gradual spread of the virus. Let the Government provide the materials and resources for immediate free/mandatory testing before we becomes Italy.”
