Parts of the country have been unreachable on the MTN network, following a downtime which occurred earlier on Saturday.
Checks by TheCable revealed that the disruption started on Saturday afternoon.
While some users, who suffered network disruption earlier on Saturday, had their services restored within a few minutes, as of the time of this report, several customers were still out of coverage.
Some customers also said they are able to access the internet, but have not been able to make calls.
Meanwhile, the telecommunications company has apologised to its customers over the network issue.
In a message posted on its Facebook platform on Saturday, MTN said it is looking into the issue, and promised that it would be addressed.
“Yello! Some of our customers are having difficulty connecting to the network today. We’re looking into this and are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused,” the post reads.
There have been more than 9,000 comments under the post.
“The apology, is it after the damage or before? You guys didn’t do well at all. Just missed out [on] some business today, Uche Jibunoh, a Facebook user, wrote.
Shadrack Prince, another Facebook user, said he had lost customers as a result of the downtime.
“Every time you apologise for the inconveniences. Where is my money you removed unlawfully and how much do you guys charge per minute and how much is your data per MB? MTN you are provoking me, do you know how much money I lost only for today? And customers I lost?” he wrote.
“You really affected my business today….made me went through unnecessary stress by arranging for another ISP,” Opeyemi Akano, another Facebook user, commented.
However, while many of the comments on the telecommunications company’s post have been negative, there have been some positive responses.
Jobiola Joshua, a Facebook user, wrote: “I work in a system where things like this can happen. I understand how your customer service team are feeling write now. So many mails to reply, so many calls and all. Weldone guys!!!”
On his part, Mohammad Abdullahi wrote: “Thank you MTN. Your apology is accepted.”
