BREAKING: Kidnaped Abia Electoral Commission Chairman Regains Freedom

The Chairman of Abia State to Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. George Chima, has regained freedom from his abductors.
In an exclusive telephone chat with CrimeFacts.mews on Saturday afternoon, the spokesperson for Imo police command, DSP Henry Okoye said Prof. Chima was released on Friday evening.
Okoye, a Deputy superintendent of police, told this reporter that this development was a result of pressure mounted on the kidnappers by operatives of the command.
Mr Okoye disclosed that the Abia electoral commission chairman visited the Imo police command headquarters in Owerri on Saturday morning but couldn’t give details on how the incident happened.
The Imo PPRO noted that due to his health conditions, the professor didn’t reveal if a ransom was or not as he was asked to go to hospital for treatments.
Recall that Professor Chima was abducted from his residents at Okigwe Local Government Area in Imo State days ago.
Chima, a University Teacher, is the Chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC).
Eyewitnesses stated that Professor Chima was hosting some of his colleagues at his Okigwe residence when the gunmen, numbering four, struck.
On arrival, they instilled fear in his visitors, harassed them, and forcefully took the helpless academic away.
