In the renewed fight against banditry and violent crime in Orsu LGA, two violent criminals popularly known as “50 Cents” and “Mpompo-nwa” were over the weekend captured and neutralized in Orsu.
50 Cents who didn’t know he was quietly being trailed by security operatives, realised too late and took to his heels as the security men closed in on him. The security operatives gave chase and captured him. He was taken to his hideout where an improvised land mine was recovered. Regrettably, ’50 Cents’ is an indigene from Ubahaeze, Awo-Idemili in Orsu LGA who has been on the watchlist of the security forces for quite sometime now.
Mpompo-nwa, a known violent criminal, was captured and reportedly neutralized alongside his mother who was also his armourer; who kept his guns and other firearms safely for him.
It will be recalled that after the matchet attack which claimed no fewer than 18 lives about three weeks ago in Orsu LGA, the manhunt for the killers was immediately initiated by Orsu people and the security forces.
And the resolve of Orsu people and the security forces, to rid Orsu of bloodthirsty bandits and violent criminals have been yielding good dividend over the last few weeks.
Nevertheless, as at the time of this report, Orsu LGA is still largely deserted, with schools, churches, markets and businesses all shut down.
Orsu LGA is in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria.
