Former Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Special Duties, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri has been arrested by a special team of Police detectives in Owerri Imo, the state’s capital.
Nwaneri was until recently, one of Uzodimma’s most trusted aides who had been with him for over fifteen years.
Sources said Nwaneri was arrested at RockView Hotel in Owerri on Saturday and taken to the headquarters of the State Police Command.
According to the source who pleaded anonymity, Nwaneri was escorted back to his hotel room during which it was thoroughly searched before he was returned to the police command.
Confirming his arrest, police spokesperson in Imo State, Henry Okoye said that the former governor’s aide, Chinasa Nwaneri, ISAMATA President and three others were arrested over an allegation of malicious damage, fraudulent activities, obtaining money under false pretence and illegal use of government power/authority to harass, intimidate and frustrate the citizens of Imo State.
Okoye noted that investigation is ongoing and further development will be communicated to journalists in due course.
