Verdict

African Hub wrote, “Israel’s prime minister Netanyahu promises to liberate Africa, as soon as he finishes dealing with Palestine, tells Ecowas and the rest of the world.”

“Dealing With Palestine”

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has been underway since January, but its future is uncertain.

The deal involves exchanging hostages held by Hamas in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel in stages and aims to end the war.

But the process has now reached an impasse, raising fears of a return to fighting.

The war was triggered when Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 back to Gaza as hostages.

Israel responded by triggering a massive Israeli military offensive, which has killed more than 48,300 Palestinians, Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry says.

Verification

A simple keyword search on Google revealed that it was a video of Benjamin Netanyahu promising to liberate Africa during an African summit in July 2016.

You can watch the original video here.

At the Uganda Regional Counterterrorism Summit in 2016 with leaders from Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Zambia, Netanyahu said that “this meeting, I think, will be a milestone, the meeting of seven leaders from African countries with Israel. I think it underscores the fact that we are in a monumental change in the relations between Israel and Africa, beginning here.
