Douglas Road: Vigilant residents nab three burglars for breaking into shops

No fewer than three members of a criminal syndicate specialising in breaking into shops along Douglas Road and stealing goods after market hours, have been arrested.

The three who were arrested yesterday around Lagos Street by Douglas road, were accused of targeting businesses along the busy Douglas Road and breaking into their shops.

The gang is accused of stealing wires, phone accessories and other valuables.

Some of the suspects who are said to also reside around the area are alleged to have been notorious for breaking into people’s shops with their gang members some of who are alleged to come from the “Ama Hausa” area of Douglas road.

One of the suspects was sighted yesterday carrying a big jute bag and when vigilant neighbours insisted on knowing the content of the bag, they discovered rolls of wires, and knowing he does not trade in wires, apprehended him and upon interrogation, it was realised that the wires were among valuable items stolen from burgled shops and the three suspects were seized and detained.

The three are now cooling their heels in Police cell, while other gang members of their gang are now at large.

Though no official statement has yet emanated from Police authorities, reliable sources in the command who confided in *Crimefacts* assured that Police detectives have been mandated to go after the remaining members of the gang, end their criminal reign and save businesses from their sabotage.
