EXTRA: Avoid EFCC’s trouble, Cubana Chief Priest advises Nigerians

 

Socialite, Cubana Chief Priest has advised Nigerians to avoid getting into trouble with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as it was not a pleasant experience.

Originally known as Pascal Okechukwu, the nightlife promoter was accused of abusing the Naira and has been in court to defend himself against the allegation on two occasions – April 17 and May 2. He was admitted to bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum after pleading not guilty.

The latest development was Cubana Chief Priest agreeing to settle out of court with the EFCC.

 

Taking to Instagram after his second appearance in court, Okechukwu wrote, “Court day !! Problem No Good Oh, @officialefcc * No Dey Joke Oh !!!! Better Stay Away From Their Wahala, I’m Sure You Will Not Love To Pass Through This Kinda Stress I’m Passing Through.”

Another socialite, Bobrisky who was arraigned by the EFCC for abusing the Naira was not successful with his defence and got a six months jail sentence.

Vanguard reports that as per the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, some ways the Naira can be abused include:

1. Spraying: It is against the law to spray the Naira banknotes at occasions.

2. Writing: It is against the law to write on banknotes.

3. Stapling: It is against the law to staple the banknotes as the pins can cause corrosion of the banknotes.

4. Tearing: It is also against the law to tear the banknotes

 

5. Soiling: It is against the law to dance/stamp on the Naira banknotes. Do not stain the banknotes with oil or ink, as this is also a form of defacing.

 

6. Sale: It is against the law to sell currency banknotes.

7. Mutilation: A person who tampers with the Naira note or coin is guilty of an offence, punishable by law (CBN Act Section 21).

8. Rejection: It is against the law to reject the Naira (Section 20 subsection 5).
