EXTRA: Ayu’s children will disown him if we reveal his secrets, says Wike

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, says the children of Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will disown him if his antics in the party are revealed.

Wike spoke on Friday in a media chat in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state.

The Rivers governor, who has been at the centre of the demand for Ayu’s removal from office, also alleged that the PDP national chairman received N100 million bribe from a sitting governor.

“In fact, let me also tell you, Ayu collected N100 million from a governor,” Wike said.

“If not for the love of this party, if we release what we have, Ayu’s children will go to him and say we are no longer your children.”

When asked why Ayu has not been prosecuted by the party, Wike said the national chairman cannot be charged unless he steps down.

“Who is going to prosecute you? Who is the chairman of the party? he asked.

The new revelations come days after Wike described Ayu as “very corrupt”.

The Rivers governor had also claimed that Ayu collected N1 billion from one of the presidential hopefuls in the party.

“Ayu is very corrupt. I’m totally informed. Ayu has the opportunity to challenge me,” he had said.

“Some of the governors can tell you. Will he deny the fact that he didn’t collect N1 billion from Lagos? Let him deny it, I will tell him who gave him the money, not from the Lagos state government, the money was given to him in Lagos.

“He met one of the presidential candidates and told him that he’s not sure these governors may want to sponsor the party.

“That money did not enter into the account of PDP, but we are not attacking Ayu on that basis.”
