Crisis has continued to rock Imo APC as its faction which is said to be loyal to Senator Ifeanyi Ararume has said that Frank Ibezim is not a member of the party.
Imo APC held it primaries on 3 Sept.for Imo north senatorial district Bye-election scheduled to hold on October 31.
In a statement by the state publicly secretary ,Onwuasoanya FCC Jones ,he maintained that APC records show that Mr. Ibezim defected to the Accord Party in the run-up to the 2019 elections and has up till this moment not returned to the All Progressives Congress.
The statement reads, “The All Progressives Congress Imo State wishes to inform all Party members, relevant agencies and institutions and the general public that Mr. Frank Ibezim who is being paraded by some people as the purported candidate of the Party for the upcoming Imo North Senatorial bye-election is not even a member of our Party, talk less of being our candidate for any election on our Party’s platform”.
According him ,”Our records show that Mr. Ibezim defected to the Accord Party in the run-up to the 2019 elections and has up till this moment not returned to the All Progressives Congress.”.
“While we have made necessary representations to relevant authorities and agencies in this regard, this statement puts the general public on notice that anyone dealing with Frank Ibezim on behalf of the Party at any level and under any guise does so at his or her own risk, as the Party does not recognize him as its member.”.
“We reiterate that Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume remains the duly nominated candidate of our Party for the forthcoming Imo North Senatorial bye-election, having won the direct primaries conducted by our Party on 3rd September, 2020, and with no controversies over his membership of our Party and qualification for the said election.”.
“We therefore urge all Party members and indeed, the electorate of Imo North Senatorial District to disregard any information in the contrary and queue behind Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, whom we are confident shall lead our Party to victory in the upcoming,” Onwuasonya said .
