Gunmen abduct Catholic priest in Kaduna community

Bandits have abducted Bobbo Paschal, priest of St Stephen’s parish, Kushe Gugdu, in the Kagarko LGA of Kaduna state.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Catholic archdiocese of Kaduna said Paschal was taken away by gunmen from his residence in the early hours of November 17 during an attack on the Kushe Gugdu community.

Christian Okewu, the diocesan chancellor, who signed the statement, added that the brother of Anthony Yero, a priest in the diocese, was also killed during the attack, while many residents were abducted.

Okewu called on the public to join the church in praying for the safe and quick release of the victims from their abductors and offered prayers for the soul of the member who was killed during the raid.

Police have yet to make an official statement concerning the attack.

At the time of filing this report, Mansir Hassan, police spokesperson in Kaduna, was not immediately available for comments on the incident.
