Herdsmen abduct two women in Delta

Some men in the company of some women cook, early Sunday morning, reportedly fled when suspected herdsmen swooped on them and abducted two of the women in Sapele, Delta State.

The victims, who were abducted at a residential house located at NDDC Road in Sapele, were reportedly whisked into the thick forest by the herdsmen, who were said to be wielding guns and sticks and speaking Fulani language.

Sources said the women (whose names have not been given) were helping a family friend to prepare food for her baby’s dedication party when they were swooped on and kidnapped.

The men that were present at the scene, who should have defended their women, reportedly fled for dear lives, leaving the women at the mercy of the marauders who dragged their preys into the woods.

However, youths from the community youths, after learning of the abduction, reportedly invaded the forest, got hold of some herdsmen but the women were said to be nowhere.

The owner of the residence, where the women were kidnapped, Mr Mamus Adugbo, told journalists that he had noticed some strange faces surveying the area and asking questions in recent times but never knew they were marauders.

As of Monday, the kidnappers have yet to establish contact with relations of the abducted women neither have the youths been able to locate them.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that efforts were still ongoing to rescue the women and apprehend their abductors.
