Despite the destruction of offices belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other security threats across the country, the Inspector – General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has assured President Muhammadu Buhari that the police force will ensure free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
The IGP gave the assurance at a security meeting with Commissioners of Police and other top police officers at the Force Headquarters.
He urged police officers to be on top of their game in curbing the persistence insecurity as the elections approaches.
He advised them not to compromise the election process, adding that any officer found guilty will face the law.
