Suspected terrorists have attacked a military convoy in Mariga local government area of Niger State, killing an army major.
Military sources revealed to PREMIUM TIMES that convoy belonged to the Nigerian Military School (NMS) and Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).
The incident which took place on Wednesday left the army major dead and another officer missing.
The army major who was conscious after the attack was later rushed to a general hospital in Kontagora, another local government in the state, where he gave up the ghost.
As at press time, the whereabouts of the missing officer is still unknown.
Further reports said three other officers sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of gunfire with the terrorists.
One of the escort vans in the convoy, belonging to the Nigeria Army was set a laze by the terrorists who also carted away with sophisticated weapons.
