Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the robbery attack on banks in the Ankpa area of the state on Wednesday, saying the gallantry of its operatives made the hoodlums to abandon three vehicles used for the operation and escaped with bullet wounds.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP William Aya, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Thursday.

However, residents said that more than five people were allegedly killed during the attack.

An eyewitness said one victim, a young lady who was later identified as Umi, was killed by stray bullets.
