A mob in the Aratusi area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, nearly lynched a 54-year-old man after he was allegedly caught raping a disabled teenager in an uncompleted building.
The arrival of policemen saved the suspect from the angry crowd.
Police sources said the victim would be taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at the police headquarters for further interrogation after his treatment in hospital.
