Ngor-Okpala Crash: Eight Corpses Recovered, As Police Launch Investigation Into Fatal Accident

A fatal collision in Ngor-Okpala has claimed the lives of eight people, prompting an immediate police investigation and a stern warning against reckless driving.

The Imo State Police Command confirmed that the tragic accident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on February 16, 2025, in Amala, Ngor-Okpala.

The crash involved a Toyota Camry, registration number EPE 541 JO, and a Hyundai Santa Fe, registration number AAA 212 CD. All eight occupants of both vehicles died in the crash.

Police officers from the Ngor-Okpala Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly to the scene. They evacuated the remains of the deceased and deposited them in the mortuary. The vehicles involved were secured to ensure the free flow of traffic.

The police are working to identify the victims and notify their families. Pictorial evidence was collected at the scene to aid in the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.

Imo State Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma has urged motorists to avoid reckless driving and speeding, which he noted are major causes of road accidents. He called on all road users to drive responsibly, obey traffic laws, and exercise caution.
