Nigerian Foreign Affairs Ministry’s website is still down, unsafe for visitors after CrimeFacts raised alarm 8 days ago

The official website of the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs is still down.

On the 21st of February, CrimeFacts news raised the alarm that the foreign affairs website was not accessible to visitors as a result of a lack of renewal of its license by the Nigerian government.

This is happening amid the US deportation/immigration policy by the Trump administration at its peak.

The website is currently inaccessible at a moment when most Nigerians in the United States or other countries may critically need to send complaints to the Nigerian government on issues affecting them.

Checks by CrimeFacts news on Saturday night indicated that the website https://foreignaffairs.gov.ng/ was still down and inaccessible.

While trying to access it, this reporter got the response, “Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from foreignaffairs.gov.ng (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).”

At the moment there’s no other alternative to access the website.

However, checks on the X account of the ministry indicated that recent updates were being shared there.

A few weeks ago, the Nigerian government revealed that 201 Nigerian nationals are currently being held in United States immigration camps, with 85 individuals already cleared for deportation.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, expressed concerns over the treatment of Nigerians facing deportation and urged the U.S. government to adhere to international conventions that guarantee dignity during repatriation.
