Non-conduct of LG Election: APC Lambasts Obiano.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has frowned at Governor Willie Obiano’s failure to conduct Local Government election in Anambra State after eight years in the saddle as Governor.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Awka,High Chief Dan Okeke, the Media Adviser to the State chairman of the party Chief Basil Ejidike said it was unfortunate that those who suppose to be the champion of democracy have turned around to destroy it.

He said the Governor having lived in United States of America (USA) with some of his top administration staff like Chief of Staff (COS), Primus Odili, and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Solo Chukwudebelu, but they all failed to democratize the grassroot of the polity in the last eight years.

The Media Adviser said it was also lamentable that the Governor came to power through ballot paper, but did not deem it fit to equally democratise Local Governments in the State 8 years counting.

On the contrary, said the High Chief Okeke, the Governor institutionalized autocracy in the state not only at the Local Government level but other areas of State administration with introduction of thugs as a revenue collectors.

He said the Governor installed his cronies as Local Government as chairmen who he renewed their tenure every three months in clear disobedience to the provision of the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, which he swore to defend.

Chief Okeke regretted that with the Caretaker Committee, the Governor was able to siphon Local Government allocations, living communities in the Local Governments undeveloped for eight years now.

The media adviser assured that APC will conduct Local Government election six months after it comes to power.

He said in Kaduna State the other day, inspite of the insecurity in the State, Governor El-Rufai conducted Local Government election in which he lost in his own ward.

High Chief Okeke said Obiano failed in virtually every aspect of governance in the State because he was almost all the time ruling the State from abroad (USA)

“He was traveling every other week. And it has affected the governance of the State.

But he should account for Local Government fund he got from Revenue Allocation in the last eight years. What did he do with our money.” said the media adviser.

He said that the APC government under Dr Andy Uba that will take over from APGA will conduct election within six months and ” it will be all inclusive, transparent, purposeful even in the third tier government” he assured.
