Bauchi State Police Command said it has arrested 20-year-old Adamu Abdul Ra’uf for allegedly removing the private part of a 6-year-old girl in Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
He said: “On interrogation, the suspect freely confessed to have conspired with one Abdulkadir Wada Haladu of Chikamidari area of Jama’are to perpetrate the crime.”
He said Abdulkadir was currently at large, but efforts have been intensified to arrest him.
Investigation is still ongoing, he added.
Meanwhile, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has condemned the criminal act. He also made a cash deposit of N1 million for the commencement of her treatment.
The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdulrazaq Nuhu Zaki announced the governor’s deposit when he led a delegation to sympathise with the family of the victim in Jamaare.
