Onitsha South Stakeholders Forum rates immediate past Onitsha South Mayor’s performances too abysmal

A forum of Onitsha South Stakeholders, under the umbrella of Onitsha South Stakeholders Forum, OSSF has rated the performances of the immediate past Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Chief Emeka Orji as extremely too poor.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Leader of the forum, Chief Emma Jideofor said Orji’s performances in office throughout his tenure as the Onitsha South Mayor was too abysmal that nothing tangible could be credited to his regime.

According to Chief Jideofor, “Emeka Orji is the worst chairman of the local government since it’s creation. Other chairmen have presided over the helm of affairs in that local government but among all of them, he was the worst”.

“He couldn’t boast of tarring even a kilometer of road since his four years in office. Two years as Transition Committee Chairman and two years as elected Mayor”.

“I learnt that he receives an average of N200m to N300 million every month as allocation from the federation account yet he has nothing on ground to show for it, even to grade or sand fill the pot-holes at Creek road by Bida road leading to the popular Odumeje’s Church but his Onitsha North counterpart, Nwora at least tarred Stock Exchange road at GRA, decorated Savoy by Awka Road, among others”.

“We call on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to swoop on him and investigate what I may call his financial recklessness while in office so as to ascertain what he used those huge amount of federal allocation and his Internally Generated Revenue, IGR for within that whole four years he stayed in office to do”.

“Orji just left office and left Onitsha South in tatters as the worst environmentally degraded local government area. No roads. No night life. No drinking water except Shark infested River Niger. No adequate security”.

“In as much as he is related to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, having come from the same Isuofia town with the governor, Soludo should not shield him from the EFCC scrutiny.

EFCC should lay hands on him and find out what he used the money he collected for four years to do in terms of development, to serve as a deterrent to others”, OSSF demanded.
