Partial compliance with sit-at-home in Abia

There was partial compliance with Monday’s sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in major cities of Abia State.

Our correspondent, who monitored compliance of the order, reports there was improved human and vehicular movements in Aba and Umuahia respectively.

But markets, banks, public and private offices were not opened for businesses except for Automated Teller Machines (ATM) with few residents getting financial transactions.

Our correspondent, who was at a popular mobile phone market at St. Michael’s road and School Road Motor Spare Parts and among other places in Aba South LGA, reports some of the shop owners were hanging waiting for prospective customers who had emergency needs and needed their services as well.

Some intercity loading bays opened for business but recorded low patronage of commuters.

The Nation reports unlike other parts of the southeast where there have been attacks by gunmen, Abia residents have been moving about unhindered.
