Police arrest NDLEA officials for ‘killing teenager’ in Kano

Two operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano state have been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing Patience Samuel, a 19-year-old girl, in Jaba quarters.

The shooting was said to have occurred on Wednesday at about 10:55pm.

According to Zagazola Makama, intelligence sources said the operatives were arrested by the Kano state police command.

The sources said police personnel visited the scene and evacuated Samuel to Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, where she was confirmed dead.

The arrested officials were identified as Nass Ridwan Usman, 23, and Sna Ismaila Yakubu, 26.

They were both attached to the agency’s Kano state headquarters.

Items recovered from them include a motorcycle, one live round of ammunition, four empty shells of 7.62×51mm ammunition, and two knives.

The sources said the police has commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

In November 2024, NDLEA officials allegedly killed one Faisal Yakubu Hussaini in Dangi, headquarters of Kanam LGA of Plateau state.

According to members of the community, the incident occurred when the officials raided a lodge in the area, scared the youth with gunshots and killed the victim in the process.
