Police arrest quack doctor, other over pregnant woman’s death

 

The Nigerian Police, Kano State Command, have arrested a fake doctor, Chidera Ugwu, and another person for allegedly injecting a pregnant woman to death.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna, a copy of which made on available on Thursday, to press in Kano

The PPRO in the statement said, “On 20/12/2023 at about 1030hrs, a report was received from one Nura Balarabe of Tofa LGA Kano that one Ukasha Muhammed, aged 19 years, of Langel Village, Tofa LGA Kano impregnated his sister, Amina Bala, aged 19 of Kwanar Mahuwa Tofa LGA Kano.”

SP Kiyawa disclosed that “Muhammad conspired with one Chidera Ugwu, 24, of Lanbum Banki Tofa LGA Kano and administered injections and drugs to the said Amina Balarabe with the intent to cause miscarriage which resulted in her death.

“The suspects were arrested and had since confessed to the crime adding that investigation revealed that Ugwu has allegedly been administering fatal injections to pregnant women, leading to tragic consequences.

“Also, the command has also apprehended a notorious thug, Yusuf Haruna aka Lagwatsani, 18, of Dala LGA of Kano responsible for Sanithe senseless murder of renowned Imam, Mallam Mohammed Shuaibu, 45,”

The PPRO noted that the suspect attacked and stabbed the Imam with a sharp knife at his back while performing ablution, leading to his death because the victim warned him (Haruna) and his gang to stop smoking Indian hemp around the Mosque premises.

SP Kiyawa however disclosed that “CP Usaini Gumel, assures the public of the Command’s commitment to thorough investigations.

“The objective is not only to bring perpetrators to justice but also to deter others contemplating such criminal actions,” he added.

While he further added that the CP then urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or through emergency contacts for prompt action.
