Police chief assaults married female colleague for refusing relationship offer

 

A police Inspector Bamidele Olorunsogo attached to Ode-Omu community in Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State has been allegedly battered by the Divisional Crime Officer of the station, Ajayi Matthew, over proposed amorous relationship.

In a viral video obtained by The Nation, Bamidele claimed the incident happened at the station on Tuesday in the presence of two Constables and 10 civilians.

Bamidele alleged that her boss made an dating proposal to her which she turned down on the ground that she is married.

According to her: “What is my offence? He started beating me. He naked me, he injured me on my chest, hand, his name is Ajayi Matthew because he asked me out and I told him I am married. He started blackmailing me.

“He was telling people around that we were dating and I took offence to it. He battered me in the presence of two constables, ten civilians. He went inside, carried a Dane gun and want to gunned me down. The civilians took out of the office that I should run away but I insisted that if he wants to kill me he should go ahead. Ajayi wants to kill o, pleases assist me o!”

IG orders Investigation

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, directed the Commissioner of Police, Osun State, CP Olaleye Faleye, to investigate the alleged assault.

A statement by the Force Public Relation Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, reads: “We will await the report of the investigation from Osun State Police Command before necessary actions are taken. However we assure the general public that justice will be done in the case, to protect the core values and ethics of the NPF.”
