Police dismiss fake document on withdrawal of security officers from CJN, others

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a document circulating widely on social media claiming that officers attached to certain individuals have been directed to immediately return to the 50 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Abuja.

In a statement obtained from the Nigeria Police Force X handle on Friday and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force described the memo, allegedly signed by one CSP Suleiman Abdullahi, identified as the Admin Officer of the squadron, as fake and misleading.

The VIPs listed in the internal memo include: Atiku Abubakar, Namadi Sambo, Nyesom Wike, Aisha Buhari, Justice Kudirat Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, Ngozi Iweala, Senator Ahmed Lawal, Senator Tanko Almakura, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, Hon. Ibrahim Massari, and others captured in the list.

The NPF clarified that no officer bearing that name serves in the 50 PMF Squadron and that the position of Admin Officer in any PMF squadron is not held by an officer of Chief Superintendent of Police rank.

According to the police, the document is a deliberate fabrication intended to sow confusion among the public.

“For emphasis, the Nigeria Police Force confirms that the implementation of the Presidential Directive on the withdrawal of police officers from VIP duties has indeed commenced.

“However, this process is being carried out in a structured, phased, and professional manner to ensure that no security vacuum is created that could be exploited by criminal elements.

“Our priority remains the safety and security of all Nigerians, and measures have been put in place to ensure absolute maintenance of law and order throughout the transition period,” the statement read.

The NPF confirmed that the presidential directive ordering the withdrawal of police officers from VIP duties has indeed begun.

However, it stressed that the process is being carried out in a structured, phased, and professional manner to avoid creating security gaps that could be exploited by criminals.

The statement assured all that the Force remains focused on maintaining law and order throughout the transition and emphasized that public safety is not at risk.

The Nigerian Police urged citizens to depend solely on official communication channels for accurate information and to refrain from spreading unverified documents capable of undermining public confidence.

The force reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of lives and property nationwide
