Operatives of Anambra Police Command on Sunday, 6th October, 2024, foiled attempt to kidnap a foreigner at Ogbunka, Orumba South local government area of the state by suspected armed secessionists.

Unfortunately, two police operatives were injured in the exchange but managed to escape with the foreigner. They are in stable condition and currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

“Meanwhile, operations are ongoing in the area to apprehend the armed suspects.”

Ikenga further stated that; “In a separate incident, police attached to the Nimo Police Station responded to a distress call at 8:25 PM on the same day, regarding a suspected cult clash in Umuka, Nawfia. Upon arrival, they discovered four young men lying lifeless on the road, surrounded by a pool of blood and showing signs of multiple gunshot wounds.

They were later identified as Ebuka Nwaonkwube Ekenta from Mmimi village, Nnatuanya Junior A.K.A. Starboy from Mmimi village, Aniemena A.K.A. Osama from Umuariam village, and Ahmed Auwal.

Eyewitnesses and local villagers report that the deceased were notorious for their illicit activities and were often involved in rivalries with another cult group in the area.

“In another development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered an immediate investigation into the horrific murder of a 17-year-old girl believed to have been used for ritual purposes.

“The CP expressed condolences to the family, friends, and community of the deceased, assuring them that the police will take all necessary measures to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime and ensure justice is served.”
