The Anambra state Police command has rescued a 7-month old baby girl, Blessing Ejike and her sister, Confidence Ejike (5 years) from a female gang specializing in child stealing.
The two female suspects were arrested at Nkpor in Idemili council area of Anambra state around 1:30pm on the 22nd of November 2019, following a valid intelligence.
According to a statement signed by the spokesman of the Anambra state Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed and made available to crimefacts.news, preliminary investigation by Police detectives attached to Otoucha Division revealed that the two children were allegedly stolen from Enugu Aguleri in Anambra East LGA by one Ani Chisom, aged 28 years, from Amuri in Nkanu-East LGA of Enugu State and her partner in crime, Afamefuna Udodili, aged 32 years of Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State.
Subsequently, a public announcement was made by the Anambra Police Command same day requesting parents or relatives of the stolen kids to come for identification.
Thereafter, parents of the two kids from Enugu Aguleri came and identified their children.They also revealed their names as Confidence Ejike and Blessing Ejike.
The children have since reunited with their parents and case is under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang urges parents and guardians to monitor their children and caution them against relating with strangers.
The CP further enjoined the public to report any suspicious person to the nearest Police Station or call Police emergency number 07039194332 for prompt action.
