Police Secure Remand Of Couple Over Alleged Child Abuse In Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has secured the remand of a couple (names withheld) at a correctional centre over their alleged involvement in the abuse of a 10-year-old boy in Anambra State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspects were arraigned in court following the conclusion of preliminary investigations into the case, which attracted widespread public attention after reports and video footage of the victim circulated on social media.

Ikenga commended residents of the community for their vigilance, cooperation, and timely provision of information, which, according to him, led to the successful rescue of the child, ensured that he received the necessary medical attention, and facilitated the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.

He said the Command remains committed to ensuring that all those found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law.

Reaffirming the Command’s resolve to protect vulnerable members of society, the Police state spokesman said the Police would continue to promote justice and safeguard the rights of children in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

He also urged members of the public to promptly report cases of child abuse and other forms of violence to relevant authorities to enable swift intervention and ensure justice for victims.
