Presidency says Tinubu fine after loss of balance in Turkey

THE Presidency has said there was no cause for alarm over the alleged stumbling of President Bola Tinubu during an official welcome ceremony in Ankara, Turkey.

Tinubu, in a video that briefly went viral, stumbled yesterday during an official welcome ceremony.
The incident happened as the Nigerian leader walked alongside Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoan at the ceremony marking the commencement of Tinubu’s visit.

In the viral video, the president appeared to have missed a step, causing him to lose his balance. Officials nearby quickly stepped in to assist, and Tinubu was promptly helped back on his feet.

He continued with the programme shortly afterward without further incident. The visit forms part of ongoing diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and Turkey. But the Presidency said despite the alleged missteps, the programme went on smoothly.

At the time the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala was contacted; he said: “The President is currently addressing the press; he is fine.”

On his part, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, on his X account, said the President was in great shape. In the post @SundayDareSD, titled: “President Tinubu in great shape as state visit proceeds smoothly, “ he said.

: “President Tinubu, after a stately welcome ceremony in Ankara, proceeded to scheduled bilateral meetings with President of Turkey and other senior government officials from both countries. f @officialABATi .”
