Pro-Gbajabiamila press conference ends in fisticuffs

…As alleged plot to frame CUPP spokesman fails

A press conference in support of Speaker Gbajabiamila, apparently with the instruction to malign and discredit the Spokesperson of the Coalition of United Political Parties, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere in Abuja today ended in a free for all.

The youngsters operating under a barely known group, Coalition of Nigerian Youth Groups lost control of the said press conference when some members of the Coalition began to demand for their share of the money which they alleged was N15m for the mobilization of the rented crowd which appeared to have be under instruction to attack the CUPP Spokesperson, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.

Some of the youths who alleged that they were asked to mobilize their members at a fee of N10,000 per head, but were not given anything.

When contacted on the developments, the Spokesperson of the CUPP Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere said “Of course you should know that there is no honour among thieves. Nevertheless, if the press conference ended as you said it did, then my God is still fighting for me and as for the allegations of sponsorship of treason which they levelled against Governor Tambuwal and Governor Wike, I believe they will be able to defend themselves with proof.”

He continued, “Ironically, the same character who I have just learnt addressed the press is the same person who we recently joined other voices of freedom to call for his release from Police detention in spite of the fact that he was the one that led these same thugs to attack and beat up Comrade Deji Adeyanju and his group during the protests to free Sowore in Abuja. Deji also joined in calling for his release from police detention.”

In the text of the press conference distributed to the media, the group had alleged that it had intercepted intelligence that Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State have  commenced initial actions that will lead to a coup and military takeover where Tambuwal and Wike will emerge as President and Vice President. They also called for the immediate arrest of Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere who they also alleged is in contact with Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB in the purported treasonable agenda.
