PSC promotes over 8000 police officers

The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers.
On Monday, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General, and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police.

On Tuesday, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police were promoted to DCPs, while 57 Chief Superintendents of Police were elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police.

The Commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed that a total of 8,053 senior police officers, including 1,348 Superintendents of Police, were promoted to Chief Superintendents of Police.

Ani added that 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) were promoted to the rank of Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) were elevated to DSPs.

Among those promoted were: Anjuguri Manzah, DCO, Onne Port Division; Ihunwo Josephine, Zonal Public Relations Officer, Zone 13, Ukpo; Matilda Umiah Ngbaronye, former Public Information Officer for the African Union Mission in Somalia and former Deputy PPRO, Lagos State Command; Opara Angela Precious, IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Ajaka Chinedu, Admin Officer, 44 PMF; Felix Ekpoudom, O/C Quick Intervention Unit, Akwa Ibom State; and Ehinola Temitope Layomi, 2 PMF, Lagos, among others.

Other officers promoted include Aminu Mohammed Abdulkadir, Danladi Ameh Musa, Adamu Muye Jesyca Gobum, Police Adviser to the United Nations, and Mohammed Yusuf Adamu, 2/ic Base 3 SPU. The list also includes senior officers such as Martin William, O/C Provost SPU, Ephraim Aneto, DLS, Zone 9 Umuahia, and Isa Ibrahim Umuoru from Border Patrol.

Other notable names on the list are: Omoarebun Iluobe, CSO to Delta State Governor; Shaaba Gboyako Adamu, CSO to Imo State Governor; and Ochogwu Sunday Okpe, DPO Otolo, Nnewi, among others.

Some of the 876 DSPs promoted to Superintendents include Nnakwe Ugochukwu, Ebonyi State Command; Nioopwa Sondago; Fayiwole Julius Oluwadare; Chijioke Okoroafor; and Omotayo Olatunde. Other officers include Umar Faruk Yesufu, ADC to Akwa Ibom State Governor, and Lovina Obiageli Okwor, Admin Officer, Government House Awka.

Aidenojie Walter, Joshua Chukwuma, Rosemary Obianujunwa Egbo, Oge Chukwu Emeka Oduma, and Mahid Mauazu Abubakar, former PPRO, Gombe State Command, are among the ASPs promoted to DSPs.
